India, the country of Gautam Budhha, the country where numerous linguistic and religious communities live in unison is a paradise for travelers or as we know “The Incredible India.”
Travelling here is as fun as troublesome it is for the problems that we as first time travellers might face, rest enjoy. But no issues, there’s always a way to every will, so if we will and wish to come and explore India, here are solutions to most of the problems.
The first problem is the obvious one, Language problem.
Language barrier is a big problem in India firstly for the numerous categories it has been divided into based on region and secondly you won’t know much of any regional language. Even if some of the people understand and speak English, to deal with local people, the shopkeepers, the craftsmen, the samosa wala, the bhujia wala etc etc., regional language is the only saviour. Now what?
Not to panic, people here might not understand the fullest form of English but they do some parts of it which means, whatever we want to say we can break the sentence into some simple comprehensible parts and speak and they are very likely to understand and if not, find someone nearby who knows English and a regional language both.
Another thing in India that has irritated its own people is the names of the places. Seriously you won’t find trickier names to places than in India. So we should be careful or it will be out turn to turn Columbus and discover a new place out of nowhere. Sounds adventurous though! Isn’t it?
Anyway, transportation becomes very much important in travelling and if we are taking a public transport, we are to be very careful for in cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai… there are innumerable number of places to go and even more routes. For a single place there would be 10 buses available but it may happen that for some place only a single bus in 2-3 hours is available. While on the go we need to be very much through with the route charts of public transportation in India. And don’t worry if after boarding a bus you feel that it’s gonna break in moments. That is the special feel of India, no matter how much weak a bus may look it will safely reach us to our destination, ajar buses yet strong buses.
For hotels, bookings, cabs or be it whatever never rely on the middlemen, talk to the direct person concerned; for it’s all money that the middlemen are concerned with and travelling is something where every penny and every bit of facility matters. So be aware of frauds and make it a happy journey.
Well yes! Another thing… coming to India? Learn to bargain.
