Kolkata – You just can’t miss the biggest carnival!
The Durga Puja preparations have already started- while the kash flowers are in full bloom, Kolkata is gearing up to welcome Maa Durga with grandeur like it does every year- all coaxing you to attend the great spectacle! Witness the magnificent pandals, appreciate the intricate works, see the city revel while night and day make no much difference!
The weather gets better from this time of the year, so its worth to be made use of!

Arunachal Pradesh- Land of the rising sun!
Be it the lush landscape of Ziro Valley which proudly preserves the Apatani tribe and their culture, or the terrains of Bomdila for adventure seekers- October is splendid time to explore Arunchal Pradesh! River rafting in the waters of Brahmaputra, Subansari or Kameng is said to be a very enriching experience while many trekkers also favor the Bomdila trek routes. Tawang can surprise with breathtakingly beautiful views which include the serenity of the Madhuri Lake.
Meghalaya- Because cloud 9, literally!
The weather in Meghalaya remains very pleasing. Shillong along with its fair share of Meghalaya’s picturesque landscape is rightly entitled to be ‘Scotland of the East‘. Apart from the scenic locations, expect to be mesmerized by their rock concerts! As per news, NH7 Weekender is scheduled on 23-24 October in Shillong. And man, these people know how to party!
Mawsynram and Cherrapunji lay out the pristine lands that can perfectly soothe any mind. With misty green hills, waterfalls- the wettest places on earth never cease to amaze you. The live root bridges bring some fantasy alive!
Wayanad – For a quick getaway!
This little known escape to bliss is favorable destination in October. Taking the safari in the Muthanga forest is a decision you won’t regret. Besides the wildlife, there are numerous other sightseeing options- the Soochipara falls can delight any water theme park enthusiast, while the Edakkal caves inspire awe! Trekking to the top of the Chembra Peak promises rewards of a spectacular panoramic view! Kuruvadweep is a favourite among picnickers due to the adventure it promises- you can find rafting and trekking pretty interesting here.
Rishikesh- A blend of spirituality and adventure
The title might sound a bit oxymoron, but Rishikesh surprises you! The month of October is one of the best times to visit the World Capital of Yoga. The various Yoga centres attract a lot of tourists alongside spiritualists, and the pristine backdrop is very ideal. Now, for the adventure part, any adventure sport enthusiast will definitely not miss the white water rafting on the Ganges here! Bungee Jumping, Asia’s longest 1 km long Flying Fox, Giant Swing, Cliff Jumping, Trekking, Rock climbing, Hiking make it a hot favourite for camping and backpacking. Adventure junkies out there, Rishikesh is serving a buffet of adrenaline rush!
