Organised by the Madhya Pradesh Kala Parishad, is a one week long festival held in the spectacular outskirts of the awes trucking Khujuraho temples in the backdrop of the state. Since 2010, the festival is conducted every February to embrace the noble traditions of our India and to bring about awareness of the different dance forms of our country.
This cultural festival highlights the richness of the various Indian classical dance styles such as Kathak, Bharathanatyam, Odissi, Kuchipudi, Manipuri and Kathakali with performances of some of the best exponents in the field. Modern Indian dance has also been added recently. All these dances are performed in front of the great temples of Surya(The Sun God) and Shiva. The dance styles are predominantly traditional and are not the new ones which have revolved throughout these years.
In the light and open air, the dancers combine each other’s strength’s, weaknesses, drawbacks and pin points in order to give away a sublime experience to a witness.
The charges are comparatively cheap as compared to the quality of festival that one gets to witness. For taking a peek at a pair of performance, you’ll have to pay around INR 20 which amounts to $0.33.
