A Day in Jaipur

More popularly known as the ‘pink city’, Jaipur offers the quintessential Indian experience that promises to linger on the sensuality as well as nurture a love for culture and heritage. Now, let’s take a look at a draft itinerary that you can use for a one day experience in Jaipur.

The Morning for the Regal Palaces

The lavish City Palace makes up for an initialization of a rendezvous with history. Officially, it is the residence of the Maharaja of Jaipur. The decorated interiors endowed with artifacts contains an object of major significance- the world’s largest known silver object, a giant water vessel.

The Hawa Mahal is also resplendent with ornate architecture. The exterior is guaranteed to take your breath away! The flow of “hawa” (wind) and the cool interior make sure you get it back! So you can guess why the nomenclature is justified, right?

A stroll along the central Jaipur and the pink city gates would make the rest of the morning worth more!

The Jantar Mantar deserves your attention and is sure to leave you in awe of the quest for science in the observatory. Now, now we did reach Mars and so the astronomical interests in India shouldn’t be much of a surprise! (Don’t mean to brag, but yeah, we were always awesome!)

How about an afternoon of Shopping?

Now as you explore this area of Jaipur, be sure to check out the ethnic wears and accessories. You can try out the traditional ear rings and necklaces. The Johri Bazaar is the place for gems and jewelleries. Watch craftsmen- whose art have transcended since generations. Try out the markets- but women, don’t get too engulfed by the intricate jewelleries, or we miss the sightseeing!

[Note: A huge positive of having a local host here is that you get the right bargain from the market. So that’s one of the ways in which Padhaaro can help you out.]

Pack something from the sweet shops and head on towards the Amber fort.

The Evening for the Spectacles

The Amber fort can be reached by a 11 km long journey by an automobile. For the majestic experience, access the facility of entering the fort premises on the back of an elephant. The fort is built of red sandstone and marble, and presents a grandeur. Make sure you don’t miss the stunning light show after dark.

"Jalmahal Restored" by Jal Mahal Project

On way to the Amber fort, the Jal Mahal or ‘Water Palace’ makes for a stop for its unique backdrop. Located in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake, it can be reached by boats crafted in the traditional look.

… And Something for the Taste Buds

And last, but not the least, be sure to munch on Rajasthani cuisines for lunch or dinner. The local cuisine comprises of vegetarian dishes- mostly milk and buttermilk based. For snacks or breakfast, quite impressive options are available for your taste buds! Try out the chai for refreshments or the different types of fried snacks that are available.

Mirchi Vada

So that basically sums up what you can do with a day in Jaipur. Although a longer time is recommended for a better experience, but the list doesn’t seem bad either, eh?
